Justin Woods, Director
Arriving at the Naval Academy in 2010, Justin began teaching the Bible and mentoring Midshipmen to be disciples of Jesus. He has been a husband to Terah since 2006, and father to Anna, Judah, Josephine Joy and Levi. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 2004, Justin began serving as a Reserve Air Force Chaplain. He is currently the Wing Chaplain at the 459th ARW, JB Andrews.
In addition, Justin is the Director for Church Planting in Military Communities with the Send Network.
Justin holds a Master of Theology and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a member of South Shore Church, the Evangelical Theological Society, and a trustee at Gateway Theological Seminary (gs.edu).
Tanner Henderson, Discipleship + Music
Tanner has been serving BCM since 2015 and is truly honored to disciple Midshipmen here at the Academy. Previously, he was a Youth Pastor at Destiny Christian Church Hawai'i and taught Christian Education at his alma mater, the Kamehameha Schools. Known to our ‘Mids’ as ‘Uncle Tanner’, he loves sharing the Gospel and the aloha spirit of his Hawaiian culture with the Navy BCM ‘Ohana. He is joyfully married to Michelle and they have three amazing sons, Connor, Cross and Creed.
Doyle Kitchin, Discipleship
After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1976, Doyle spent his naval career as an Engineering Duty Officer. His final two assignments were as the Chief Engineer aboard the USS Midway and the USS John F. Kennedy. After retiring as a Captain, he continued serving as the Deputy Director for Machinery Systems at NavSea. Today, Doyle spends his time discipling Midshipmen to faithfully follow Jesus, as they prepare to become officers in the Navy.
Jake Tyler, Discipleship
Jake Tyler is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity. He is passionate about discipling, mentoring, and investing in the lives of midshipmen. As part of his ministry, Jake meets with midshipmen daily to encourage their spiritual growth and help them deepen their relationship with Christ. He also loves preaching and teaching at BCM’s Tuesday night services. He and his wife Lydia have a son, Luke and are excited to welcome their baby girl, Elisabeth, in January!
Abe Han, Discipleship
Abe graduated from Virginia Tech and serves with Navy BCM at the United States Naval Academy. After moving to the Annapolis area following college, the Lord used Navy BCM to draw him to Himself and give him a heart for ministry. Having experienced the impact of discipleship firsthand, Abe is passionate about sharing the Gospel and investing in Midshipmen through one-on-one discipleship, Bible study, and mentoring. He is grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside Midshipmen as they grow in their relationship with Jesus and prepare to serve as officers in the Navy. Abe is also pursuing his Master of Divinity online.
Emma Tyler, Discipleship + Admin
Emma Tyler joined the Navy BCM team in January 2026, alongside her brother, Jake Tyler. Emma is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Bible at Liberty University and is an intern at South Shore Church. At BCM, she helps with administrative responsibilities. Emma especially loves women’s ministry and meeting with girls throughout the week to study Scripture and grow together in their walks with Christ. Emma is grateful to be part of what God is doing at the Naval Academy.
